The Role Join our pharmaceutical manufacturing team in a key leadership role focused on manufacturing performance, equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead the Production Manufacturing team. You'll own people management, GMP and WHS compliance, investigations and continuous improvement. You'll also act as the Operations Manager's backup, keeping production performance, equipment utilisation and cross-functional communication on track. What You'll Do - Production Leadership
- Lead and supervise the Manufacturing team, including escalated investigations, documentation and processes
- Make effective use of equipment and people to meet production schedules
- Support the Operations Manager and act as backup during absences
Quality & Continuous Improvement - Coordinate quality and CI processes within production, ensuring compliance with GMP, WHS and internal quality systems
- Manage non-conformances and non-conforming batches, including follow-up actions
- Involved in close out Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
- Documentation & Compliance
- Enforce production instructions and material handling procedures
- Conduct and coordinate scheduled cGMP and WHS area audits
- Support internal and external audit preparation, participation and follow-up
- Reporting & Communication
- Report departmental metrics in daily Tier 1–2 meetings and escalate to Tier 3
- Prepare investigation reports
- Performance & Process Optimisation
- Use Redzone (production OEE tool) for real-time performance monitoring, and analyse downtime and loss data to drive CI initiatives
- Coach teams on using Redzone for communication, escalation and workflow
- Support troubleshooting and initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimise labour
What You'll Bring - Experience in production and quality within the pharmaceutical, food or cosmetics industry
- A tertiary qualification in science, engineering or a related technical field, or significant pharmaceutical industry experience
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of GMP and a sound understanding of WHS principles
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and ERP/MES systems
- Desirable: experience with Redzone or similar performance software, and exposure to Lean or Six Sigma
